Toyota new car sales in China down 12% in June

Toyota Motor Corp. released June sales of 174,500 new vehicles in China on June 6, down 12.8 percent from a year earlier, a two-month decline. Honda, which had previously released sales figures, decreased by 19.8% and Nissan slid by 28.0%, with all three carmakers down by double digits.

The impact of the end of some of the car tax incentives at the end of last year is still ongoing, in addition to the end of the new crown prevention zero policy, demand recovery momentum weakened also contributed to the impact.

Local joint ventures “FAW Toyota” and “GAC Toyota” declined 23.1% and 4.6% respectively. Lexus, the imported premium car brand, grew 7.4%.

In June, Honda’s sales were 113,133,000 units and Nissan’s 69,139,000 units, a month after the decline of the two companies.
