Jiangsu Kicks Off 2025 Coastal Cleanup & Marine Protection Activities with Global Participation

On the morning of June 8, amid the observance of the 17th World Oceans Day and the 18th National Ocean Awareness Day, the 2025 Coastal Cleanup and Marine Protection Campaign, along with the “Beautiful Jiangsu – Blue Initiative for Rivers, Lakes and Seas” marine chapter, commenced in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province.

The event announced the formation of an “Eco-Observer Delegation” comprising think tank experts, international representatives, and mainstream media. Through field research, visual documentation, and academic seminars, the delegation will systematically decode Jiangsu’s innovative practices in marine ecological governance, sharing China’s ecological civilization achievements globally. Ten international student representatives were appointed as “Lianyungang Beautiful Bay International Ambassadors.”

Attendees boarded the vessel with technicians, touring multiple onboard professional laboratories for an immersive experience highlighting the precision and significance of marine ecological monitoring. Guided by the crew, international students operated equipment to collect water samples and analyze real-time data.

As a pioneering province in coordinating marine economic development and ecological preservation, Jiangsu leverages these “ship-open” events to demonstrate cutting-edge marine governance technology while deepening public commitment to “harmonious human-ocean coexistence” through immersive engagement and inspires broader participation in marine ecological conservation.
