The 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly of Vietnam passed a resolution on the investment policy of the North-South High-speed Railway Project on November 30, with a total investment of 170 trillion Vietnamese dong (about 67.34 billion US dollars).

Wu said that most representatives of the National Assembly agreed with the necessity of investing in the North-South High-speed Railway Project, believing that the implementation of the project is of great significance to the implementation of Vietnam’s national development strategy, and will become an important breakthrough in promoting economic and social development and modern transportation infrastructure construction.

According to the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of Vietnam, the North-South High-speed Railway is designed to run at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It starts from the capital Hanoi, passes through 20 provinces and cities, and finally arrives in Ho Chi Minh City. It is 1,541 kilometers long and has 23 passenger stations and 5 freight stations along the line.

The project strives to start construction in 2027 and is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in 2035.
