MOFCOM: Opposes the US sanctions against Chinese entities and individuals on the grounds of Iran-related activities

On June 12, the spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Commerce said that it opposes the US side’s inclusion of some Chinese enterprises and individuals on the “specially designated Nationals list” to impose sanctions on the so-called Iran-related grounds.

The US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on five Chinese companies and four Chinese citizens for their involvement in Iran’s ballistic missile program. According to the Treasury statement, Chinese companies have provided critical components and technology for Iran’s ballistic program.

“What the US has done lacks factual basis, due process and damages the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies and individuals,” the spokesperson added. The US side should stop its unreasonable oppression of Chinese companies and individuals. China will take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies and individuals.”
