The reporter learned from the Hefei Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology that as of October 21, the city’s new energy vehicle production in 2024 exceeded 1 million, far exceeding the 746,000 vehicles in the whole of last year. It is expected that the annual new energy vehicle production will exceed 1.3 million, a year-on-year increase of 74%.
In the first nine months, Hefei’s automobile production reached 1.3117 million vehicles
Data shows that from January to September, the city’s automobile production reached 1.3117 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 33.47%, of which the production of new energy vehicles was 927,500, a year-on-year increase of 74.47%. In the first nine months of this year, the city’s new energy vehicle production exceeded the full year of 2023.
At present, Hefei has gathered six vehicle manufacturers including JAC, BYD, NIO, Volkswagen, Changan, and Ankai, achieving a “Grand Slam” of various forms of car manufacturing, including foreign giants, central enterprises, new forces in car manufacturing, local independent brands, and Huawei’s ecosystem.
At the same time, Hefei has cultivated more than 500 core parts companies such as Guoxuan High-tech, Zhongxinhang, and Juyi Technology. From January to September, the city’s power battery, drive motor, and electronic control system output increased by 39%, 50%, and 90% respectively. From January to September, the city introduced 153 new energy vehicle industry chain projects with a total investment of 131.5 billion yuan, including Autoliv, Joyson Electronics, Fuyao Glass, and other top 100 global auto parts companies, Volkswagen’s second global R&D center, Corning automotive glass, and a number of foreign-funded landmark projects have settled in succession.
Hefei strives to form 2 to 3 complete vehicle companies with an annual output of 500,000 vehicles by 2027, add 10 parts companies with a scale of 10 billion yuan, and the production capacity of new energy vehicles will exceed 3 million vehicles, and the cluster revenue will exceed 700 billion yuan.
