China-Africa Cooperation Forum Summit to be held in Beijing

The 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit will be held in Beijing from September 4 to 6. The theme of this summit is “Join hands to promote modernization and build a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future”. Recently, presidents of many countries attending this summit have arrived in Beijing by plane.

The 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit is a summit held between China and African countries and will be held in Beijing from September 4 to 6, 2024. The theme of this summit is “Join hands to promote modernization and build a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future”.

Leaders of African members of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and representatives of relevant African regional organizations and international organizations will attend the relevant activities of the summit.

The Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) is a collective dialogue mechanism between China and African countries on the basis of equality and mutual benefit. It was established in 2000. Its purpose is to consult on an equal footing, enhance understanding, expand consensus, strengthen friendship and promote cooperation. The members of the forum include China, 53 African countries that have established diplomatic relations with China and the African Union Commission.

In October 2000, the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation-Beijing 2000 Ministerial Conference was held in Beijing. The conference adopted two historic documents, the Beijing Declaration and the China-Africa Economic and Social Development Cooperation Program, and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation mechanism was formally established.

China and Africa held the 2006 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, the 2015 Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in November 2006, December 2015 and September 2018 respectively.

The 2006 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation established a new type of strategic partnership between China and Africa; the 2015 Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation established a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Africa; the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation determined to build a closer China-Africa community with a shared future, pushing China-Africa relations into the best period in history.

The 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit is the largest home diplomacy held by China in recent years with the most foreign leaders attending.
