Botswana unearths world’s second largest diamond

On August 21, Lucara Diamond Company of Canada announced that it had mined a 2,492-carat diamond in Botswana, Africa. This is the largest diamond ever found in Botswana and the second largest diamond in the world, second only to the 3,106-carat diamond “Cullinan” found in South Africa in 1905.

Botswana is a famous diamond producing area. According to Lucara Diamond Company, this diamond was mined from the Karowe Diamond Mine in Botswana. After the news was released, the company’s stock price soared 80%.
