In May 2023, 25,588 real estate transactions were registered in Kazakhstan, according to the Kazakh State Statistics Service. The number of deals is down 18.6% compared to the 31,445 contracts signed in April 2023.
The largest transactions were in Almaty (4,302 transactions, 16.8%) and Astana (3,667 transactions, 14.3%), and karaganda (2,354 transactions, 9.2%). The least volume was recorded in Ulytau Region (272 deals, or 1.1%).
Compared with April this year, the trading volume of all Kazakhstan states showed a negative growth trend in May, and the largest decline in trading volume was in Atyraū Aimak, down 30.3%, Jetisu Region, down 26.6%, and Mangystau Province, down 26.3%.
Compared to April, the number of housing transactions fell 19 percent, with 4,427 fewer transactions. All states showed a downward trend except Kostanai, which saw a 1.5% increase, and Turkestan, which saw a 0.4% increase. A total of 18,922 units were sold in May, accounting for 73.9% of the total transaction volume.
The number of home sales in May this year was down 16.1 percent from 30,500 in the same month last year. East Kazakhstan Oblast saw the largest drop of 51.7 percent. Almost all regions showed a downward trend, with only Astana showing an increase, with a growth rate of 5.7%.
