Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at the opening of the G20 Development Ministers’ meeting that G20 countries should invest more in stable development.
He called on G20 ministers to study India’s experience in turning more than 100 underdeveloped regions into “catalysts for growth” and stressed the need for digitalisation and democratisation of technology.
Modi also said, “Digitalization has brought about revolutionary change in India. Technology is being used as a tool to empower people and ensure data availability and inclusion. India is ready to share its experience with all partner countries.”
He also called on the ministers to formulate key principles to address climate change and adopt an action plan on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
India has held the G20 presidency since December 1 last year. India will hold more than 200 group meetings during its tenure, with the foreign ministers’ meeting being the most important event ahead of the final G20 leaders’ summit on September 9-10. After that, the G20 presidency will pass to Brazil.
