According to AFP and other media reports, former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi died on the 12th local time at the age of 86.
Reports said that Berlusconi had been hospitalized in early April due to pneumonia caused by chronic leukemia, and entered the intensive care unit, discharged in mid-May. On June 9, Berlusconi was again taken to SAN Rafael Hospital in Milan.
It is reported that Berlusconi’s health has deteriorated significantly in recent years. In 2016, he received open heart surgery, and has been hospitalized for many times since he contracted COVID-19 three years ago.
It is reported that during the previous hospitalization, Berlusconi remained politically active and appeared in two videos. He looked frail in the video, but insisted he was ready to return to work.
Berlusconi has served as Prime Minister for three times, and is the longest serving Prime Minister of Italy after World War II.
