Saudi Arabia opens China-Arab ‘New Silk Road’

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Saudi Investment Minister Khalid al-Falih announced the opening of a modern “Silk Road” between China and Arab countries on the occasion of the 10th China-Arab Entrepreneurs Conference in Riyadh.

More than 3,000 Chinese and Arab entrepreneurs, officials and regional experts will attend the two-day conference, which is expected to be the largest such event in the history of China-Arab relations.

“The ‘New Silk Road’ between China and Arab countries will be determined by the Kingdom’s vision of cooperation and partnership, and the ‘fuel’ of its launch is youth and innovation to safeguard the interests of Arab countries and international partners,” the Saudi investment minister said.

“As the largest economy in the Middle East and the fastest growing economy in the world in the past 2022, Saudi Arabia is committed to serving as a bridge connecting the Arab world with China and promoting the growth and development of these relations,” he stressed.

He said that at this stage, the Arab world needs high value-added investment from China, “Saudi Arabia as the Council of the Arab League this year, to promote its realization of Arab world leaders to strengthen relations with friendly China and expand its political and diplomatic achievements in the field of economic and investment activities.”

On June 11, the 10th China-Arab States Cooperation Forum Entrepreneur Conference and the 8th Investment Seminar were held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. More than 3,000 business and government representatives from 23 countries attended the conference under the theme of “China and Arab countries work together to create prosperity”.
