Koroshev, member of the Eurasian Economic Commission’s Executive Committee on Energy and Infrastructure (ministerial level), told Sputnik News agency that he expects the Eurasian Economic Union to establish a common energy market by 2025, and that negotiations are ongoing.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Eurasian forum in Sochi, Koroshev said: “There are negotiations. There are a few issues that we haven’t been able to agree on, but I think we can have a common energy market by 2025.”
In response to a question from a reporter of Sputnik News agency, Koroshev said that at present, the five member states of the Eurasian Economic Union have not all switched to the ruble for the settlement of natural gas, but he believes that they will eventually switch to the ruble.
Koroshev told the Sputnik news agency in October 2022 that all four members of the Eurasian Economic Union except Kazakhstan have agreed to pay for Russian gas in rubles, and Kazakhstan is considering the issue of using local currency payments.
